About the Founder
Dan Lamprey has long been passionate about digital product management and takes pride in their work to create the best possible digital products that are valued by its users and viable for the business. They have been in leadership roles in the past, including as a group product manager, and always enjoyed helping other become successful in their careers through coaching and career development. Their path to a career in product management originated from starting as a software engineer and then architect building web applications using a variety of stacks and platforms. It was this journey that inspired Dan to create the Product Manager Handbook.
Background
Dan Lamprey moved to Colorado in 2024 and wanting to connected with a professional network, discovered Colorado Product. This amazing non-profit organization has an active Slack Community where members are eager and willing to answer a variety of questions related to product management. Dan was impressed with the depth, breadth and honesty of the knowledge, experience and resources that were shared openly. And in their experience, knowledge, tools, and resources for product managers were plentiful, but fragmented, time-consuming to digest, and sometimes biased by its publisher. They thought that it would be very useful for themselves and others in digital product management roles if there was one place where you could go to learn about product management and find answers from a knowledge base curated by product managers.
And with the advancements of AI (artificial intelligence) and its application of RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) they thought that it could be used to answer questions from curated articles authored by product management professionals.
About the Website Architecture
Having experience and knowledge of the WordPress platform features and its open architecture, Dan chose it to build the website for use on desktops and mobile devices. And for the feature that answers questions using AI and RAG, they built it as a WordPress plugin that integrates with ChatGPT with plans for support of other AI engines. At some point they intend to make the plugin available in the WordPress Plugin Directory. Learn more about the AI feature.
